Special project
Sixty biblically-inspired works
centered on the theme of "Light" (24"x
30" and 22"x 28") offered as an exhibit to
cultural and religious organizations.
For Claude Chênevert,
painting is above all an expression of colour. "Colour
brings out joy - it's the beauty of every day life,"
he says. His paintings are inspired by the life found in
nature and exude happiness and vitality.
Claude Chênevert was
born in Windsor, Qc in 1950. He moved to Gatineau in 1974
and worked in the region as a mechanic.
Painting started as a hobby. He committed
himself to art as a way of expressing himself when he took
classes at the College d'Outaouais and the Université
de Quebec à Hull (Gatineau) (1990-1992). These courses
have confirmed his commitment to his work and have enhanced
his artistic talent.
Impressionist painters - Van Gogh, Monet
and the Canadian painter, Marc-Aurèle Fortin, especially
seduce and inspire him. They have definitely influenced
on his work.
His paintings are held in private collections
around the world - Canada, France, Germany, Italy, U.S.A.
(New York).
Particularly attracted by the beauty of landscapes
in la Petite Nation, Qc., Claude Chênevert decided
to move to Papineauville in 2002 and open a private art
gallery.
He works today from his gallery - with
vibrant colours - the brightest of yellows, radiant greens,
deep blues all from the fresh and simple scenes that he
sees around him. His works are full of life. Light is also
very present in his work. It reflects the joy of a painter
who loves painting. It's as simple as that.
